War in Rio New car is fired in Rio, after six hours of respite

After six days of terror, Rio de Janeiro was able to live their first six hours of peace. However, late on Friday (26), at around 22pm, a new car was found ablaze in Anchieta, a suburb of Rio's body was fired firefighters to the scene and controlled the flames. No one was injured.

Violence

The attacks began on the afternoon of Sunday, April 21, when six men armed with guns boarded three vehicles at about 13h on the Red Line, when the highway Washington Luis. They robbed the owners of the vehicles and set fire to two of these cars, leaving the third. While fleeing, the group attacked an official car of the Air Force Command (Comaer) who was at reduced speed due to a mechanical failure. The gang came to hurl a grenade at the utility Doble. The Rio government said there was information of intelligence that leads us to believe in the plan of attack, but there's nothing confirmed. On Tuesday, police announced that all the workers were placed on the streets to combat the attacks and asked the support of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) to monitor the roads. 12 were reported arrested, three detained and three dead.

On Wednesday, the police reinforced and operations in the favelas, 15 people were killed in confrontation with security officers, 31 were arrested and two policemen from the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) were injured in the bloodiest day so far. Among the victims of the clashes, is a 14 year old who died after being shot in the back. In addition, 15 cars, two vans, seven buses and a truck were burnt in the state.

Also on Wednesday, the state government transferred eight inmates of the Penitentiary of Gericinó in West River, to the Federal Prison Catanduvas, Parana. They are accused of leading the wave of attacks. Another measure to try to contain the violence was announced by the Ministry of Defence: Rio will have the logistical support of the Navy to strengthen actions to combat criminals. Until Wednesday, 23 people were killed, 159 were arrested or detained and 37 vehicles were torched in the State

On Thursday, police confirmed that nine people were killed in confrontation in the slums of Alligator, north of Rio Thus, since Sunday, the death toll in violence on the streets of Rio de

Janeiro and the cities of Metro reached 32. During the day, 200 policemen from the Special Operations Battalion (Bope) Cruise entered the village in the Complexo da Penha, the largest operation since the beginning of the attacks. During the night, 13 prisoners who were in the Maximum Security Prison Catanduvas, Paraná, were transferred to the Federal Prison in Porto Velho, Rondonia. Among them, Marcinho VP and

Elias Maluco, considered by intelligence sector of the state Department of Safety, directly linked to acts of violence in recent days. Also at night, Defense Minister Nelson Jobim, signed authorization for 800 men from the Army to be sent to ensure protection of the areas occupied by the police.
